Chicken Bone Broth

A simple recipe for chicken broth in your slow cooker. You are welcome to omit the chicken, or replace it with beef bones.

Ingredients:

 

·      1-2 chicken carcasses

·      2-4 chicken feet (optional)

·      4-6 chicken wings (optional)

·      2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

·      1 onion, quartered

·      Handful of fresh parsley 

·      4 garlic cloves (smashed)

·      1 bay leaf

·      2 carrots, coarsely chopped

·      3 celery stalks, coarsely chopped 

·      3cm of sliced fresh ginger 

·      3cm of sliced fresh turmeric, or 1 tsp dried turmeric

·      Filtered water (to fill slow cooker

·      Sea salt (to taste)

 

Method:

 

1)    Add all ingredients, except salt and water into slow cooker.

2)    Once in, top with filtered water

3)    Put slow cooker on low for 12-24hrs.

4)    Let the broth cool, strain and add sea salt to taste.

5)    Drink the broth as is or store in the fridge for up to 5-7 days, or place in containers in the freezer for up to 6 months.

6)    Use in soups, stews, stir frying veg or any sauces.
